Red clay flower or organic matter planter with woman's face and fish framing her visage. Original work by José Garcia Antonio. Hole in the centre back for wall hanging and at the base for drainage.
José Garcia Antonio uses clay from the ground of his native village San Antonio Del Castillo Velasco in Oaxaca, Mexico. Taking inspiration from nature, the image of his wife and figures in the Zapotec tradition, Garcia has been making his majestic terracotta figures for nearly fifty years. Although he is now nearly blind with cataracts, he continues to work daily.
