Sarah Burwash lives in Northern Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, working as an artist, illustrator, builder, deck hand on a fishing boat and steward of the boreal forest. Working in a variety of media from illustration and animation, to ceramics and installation, Burwash’s work most often takes form in narrative watercolour paintings.
Her work is included in private and public collections internationally and has been shown in Canada, USA and in Europe. She has participated in residencies internationally, most recently at Andrea Zittel’s A-Z West Experimental Cabins in Joshua Tree, CA. Burwash recently attended the Centre for Cartoon Studies to work on her upcoming debut graphic novel ‘Vera Bushwack’.
