TIGRA TIGRA merges old world textile techniques and futuristic design. A rich colour palette, languid fit and hand-made details are all hallmarks of a TIGRA TIGRA piece.
Since 2012, designer Bailey Hunter has been a partner in an artisan NGO in Gujarat, India which employs over 500 women, and where the majority of TIGRA TIGRA textiles are made. The women work from their homes in order to take care of their family while maintaining their dignity, financial security and self-reliance.
Sea breeze whispers against the skin in cotton that is light as air. This white checked, gauzy dream of a dress is made from hand-loomed khadi cotton and is constructed in Ahmedabad at a fair trade independent women’s cooperative. Semi-sheer and full-length, this frock features raw edges, an oversized collar, ruffled sleeves, and an asymmetrical, purple silk velvet ribbon that laces across the front. Orange and blue stitching detail adorns the cuffs.
