In their vast geological scale, mountains remind us of our brief time on earth, standing as metaphors for human aspiration as well as its struggles. For some, their towering, sublime forms are the physical manifestation of beauty, perfection, and cosmic order. For others, their presence is unsettling and disquieting, reminding us of our limited nature and understanding.
