Judith Martin: Quilts Are Journals

100% Silk Shop is deeply honoured to present the work of celebrated Canadian quilt artist Judith Martin in an upcoming exhibition featuring work that spans more than 50 years of her career.

Martin is a self-taught quilt artist from North Western Ontario who began quilt-making as an art practice in her twenties, recognizing early on that quilting has a great power to heal. In the present day, Martin’s work has become more intricate, focused and meditative. Yet it always remains deeply personal, with pieces and symbols transforming over time as their biographical purpose changes.
