Bazin bows rustle against dying marigolds. They punctuate the hot and grey landscape of downtown Toronto gardens. The air is dry and clear. Cascading sheeths of waxed cotton pour downwards like water from a fountain, like the kiss from late summer wasps, twirling. Giant sun-bleached asparagus stalks and concrete dogs fill the streets, and Jana laughs at this fantasy in the void of the city.
