- Description
Full length skirt with a side button closure and side seam pockets. This skirt is made from our beautiful hand woven strip cloth, made especially for the 100% Silk label, weighted without feeling hot and heavy. Triangle panels at the waist are adorned with hand cast brass amulets. Gathered for a full shape, and tied cotton fringe at the hem. An elegant, durable piece that walks the line between past and future.
The Amulet collection is a collaboration between 100% SILK and jeweller Daniel Mawuli Quist. Lost-wax brass casting was developed by the Asante people in Ghana to make objects for gold transactions, such as weights and canisters. Like their forefathers, Ghana’s brass casters begin the process of making metal articles by sculpting in beeswax. The wax form is painted with a paste of fine charcoal and water and covered in a mold of coarse palm fibers and clay. Finally, the wax is poured out and replaced by molten brass. The finished brass piece is polished with palm nut fibers and sand over several days.

Brand
100% Silk was founded in 2016 by Lee Dekel as a way to showcase specialized forms of folk craft in textile. Each collection begins an investigation into a particular art form. Lee collaborates with craftspeople ranging from seventh generation ikat dyers in Uzbekistan, to flag makers in Ghana trained in the art of storytelling through appliqué. Every material used in her collections has been designed and made from scratch, guided by the technique and informed by the environment from which they were born.

All objects, jewelry, underpinnings, printed matter and swimwear are final sale. Sale items and special orders are final sale. Promotional sale purchases (items purchased with a welcome code or a discount code) are available for exchange or store credit only.
We will exchange or refund all regular-priced clothing items if posted by trackable mail or courier within 4 days of receipt. The item must arrive to the shop within 14 days of posting. For refunds, you will be refunded the cost of the returned items at the time of purchase minus a return fee of $10.
