In spring 2021, 100% Silk Shop owner Lee Dekel and writer Esmé Hogeveen began chatting about the idea of a survey asking designers and artists to share thoughts on revered textiles, pandemic pastimes, and creative practices. Taking Notes was born and our first conversation is with designer Julia Heuer.
Building on an illustrious career as a textile print designer for Jakob Schlaepfer, the German-born Heuer founded her namesake collection in 2017. Since then, the brand has developed a followi...
This season we invited Toronto photographer Jorian Charlton and stylist Nariman Janghorban to create a riot of colour and texture from the shop’s closet. Collaborating with makeup artist Rahsthetics, photography assistant Roya DelSol and models Yves Jarvis and Natelise Ekland, the team created sumptuous tableaux at Polyester Studios, which was outfitted for the shoot with ten foot collages of handwoven, printed, and satin textiles. Janghorban layered looks from our collections up, down and d...

Inspired by Mina’s unapologetic presence, Lunakhods transported him onto the beaches, gardens and bathrooms of Egypt, Pakistan, Ghana, and Uzbekistan, environments where queerness remains hidden and underground.
